"Dark Army" Nearing Capitol
Saturday, August 7, 2004 - The Nassau West National Security Council has issued an alert regarding the approaching "dark army" from the northeast. According to sources within the Nassau West Military Service, scouts for the approaching army have been spotted with the naked eye from the Capitol.
This "dark army" is evidently a rogue band of marauders that don't operate under the flag of any particular nation or group, and have no allegiance to anyone. If their advance is successful, it will be their second attack on Nassau West.
The first attack by the group was in early 1994, well before Nassau West joined as a charter member of the First Unified Council of Kingdoms in 1996. During their first incursion, the "dark army" attacked with no warning, and was nearly successful in assassinating Nassau West President Kelly K. Bartram in February of that year.
For National Security reasons, President Bartram has been removed from the Capitol, and is currently being guarded in an unknown secret location until the threat passes. Also for security reasons, the Capitol is closed to the public indefinitely pending the outcome of this battle on the horizon.
The Nassau West Department of State will be requesting assistance from the other two member nations of the First Unified Council of Kingdoms, the Xochi Republic and Tigibumwah, in the very near future.
As of tonight, the "dark army" is advancing on foot from the northeast and is about 9 miles away from the Capitol. The National Security Council has overturned a court order against Nassau West Sheriff Kelly Bartram, and has reinstated him to his full duties within the Nassau West Sheriff's Department effective immediately.
