Sheriff Bartram is "Out of Control"

Friday, April 1, 2005 - Nassau West Sheriff Kelly Bartram has again been tossed by the Nassau West Transportation Workers' Union (NWTWU Local 9), this time for losing his temper at the workplace in Tucson.

According to records obtained from the Department of Administration, the Nassau West government dispensed $13.71 and wages for the Presidential Security Service (PSS) to evacuate the Sheriff and clean up the mess.

The Sheriff called in to the Capitol shortly after 12:30 yesterday afternoon to inform the Capitol that he had again lost his temper and slammed his fist down on his government-issued laptop computer because the keys were not functioning properly. His action resulted in a large dip in the keyboard area of the laptop.

After the Sheriff's "adjustment," he was lucky the keys worked at all. The computer was still operational. The copy machine it was sitting on at the time, however, was no longer useable. This is because when Bartram slammed his fist on the laptop, the force traveled through the computer, through the copy machine cover, and shattered the glass surface inside the copy machine.

The PSS was on the scene in Tucson until almost 10 PM last night repairing the copy machine and cleaning up the Sheriff's mess. The Nassau West Federal Insurance Corporation spent $13.71 on replacement glass for the copy machine and completed the removal of the broken glass and the installation of the new glass. The machine also received a cleaning.

Once the clean-up operation was complete, the PSS returned to the Capitol with their findings. In their scathing report, they made mention of the Sheriff's previous record of equipment abuse.

The Sheriff spilled soda on the computer on Friday, January 21, 2005, also in a fit of rage. During this episode, Bartram slammed a large plastic cup of Dr Pepper on his desk next to the laptop. The top flew off the cup and the soda sprayed all over the computer.

The following weekend, it was disassembled and cleaned in hopes of removing the sticky soda from the keys and the keyboard. The effort, which cost several hours on Saturday and almost $40 failed.

On Monday, April 4, the Sheriff will begin a thirty day suspension, without pay, and in his place at the company in Tucson will be none other than Nassau West President Kelly K. Bartram, who filled in about this time last year for a run-amok Sheriff.

President Bartram is no stranger to filling in for the hot-headed Sheriff. "He's nuts! He's out of control. I believe the Sheriff is bi-polar and that he should get a diagnosis as such and be medicated before he completely destroys all equipment that is unfortunate enough to be in his way!" the President quipped regarding the Sheriff and his recent bizarre behavior.
