Tuesday, June 7, 2005 - The Nassau West Capitol expects to be "as ready as possible" for a VIP visit this weekend. The VIP is the VP, Nassau West Vice President Mike O'Brien, and his fiance, Cathy McWhorter. They are expected to arrive late Friday night.
Nassau West President Kelly K. Bartram has been overseeing the construction of the Spread Eagle Saloon, inside the kbartram.com Arena. "I'm amazed," said the President, "this is infinitely better than I ever thought possible. The bar's coming along quite nicely, but it will not be finished by this weekend as hoped. Perfection takes time."
"I was sure that at least the first phase of this project would be finished in time for Mike's visit, but I guess I was wrong. The bar is fully operational, and has been in service for several days at this point. It needs a lot of clean up and refining, though, which will happen before this weekend. It will be as ready as possible," Bartram concluded.
Vice President O'Brien will be celebrating his birthday at the Capitol and in neighboring Tombstone this weekend with the President. The kbartram.com Arena and Spread Eagle Saloon will host the VP Friday night, and on Saturday, O'Brien will travel to Tombstone aboard Nassau West One for an overnighter there.
The President has recently totally destroyed the planned budget and may have ended the possibility of his own vacation next month, as there are dangerously low amounts of funding to cover current obligations. Presently, the monthly mortgage payment and van payment are both overdue and unpaid. Bartram says that these are minor issues that needn't be further considered.
However, if he plans to keep his scheduled vacation in Seattle from July 1 to July 10, travel arrangements will have to be made sooner rather than later. At last check, airline prices had almost doubled since the last time the President flew to Seattle (2003). Taking Nassau West One has already been ruled out, as it would cost more in gas than for commercial airline travel.
Bartram has since tightened up on spending for the Spread Eagle, but the damage may have already been done. All of this week's income has been confiscated by the Department of the Treasury, and none will be allotted for further bar construction. According to the Treasury Department, the present financial crisis will take least two weeks to overcome. With less time available to make an advance ticket purchase commercial airline travel will likely be more expensive.
