"Hanoi Jane" is at it Again!

''Hanoi Jane'' Fonda sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun while on a tour of the country in July, 1972.

Monday, July 25, 2005 - Well, well, well. Here we go again. "Hanoi Jane" Fonda is at it again. I guess she hasn't already done enough to ruin her career by shooting her mouth off in Vietnam in the early 70's, now she's got more of her ever-so-precious opinions to share with us.

For those of you who may not be aware of the actress' former follies, let me enlighten you. In July of 1972, in attempt to stop the war, Fonda toured North Vietnam. During that trip, she cozied up to the enemy, posing for photo ops with communist troops and broadcasted anti-American propaganda over Radio Hanoi.

She also participated in a staged press conference with American servicemen held captive by the Viet Cong, the purpose of which was to "prove" that the POWs were not being mistreated by their captors. Years later when the released POWs described the very real torture and degradation they suffered at the hands of the North Vietnamese, Fonda called them "hypocrites and liars."

Now, apparently, the lovely and gracious Ms. Fonda intends to go on a cross-country bus tour across America to call for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq. And always sure to be politically correct, Jane's bus will not use foreign oil - it will run on vegetable oil.

According to Fonda, she is doing this because she has been encouraged by war veterans (for which side I'm not sure) that want her to break her neck, I mean her silence, regarding her stand on the war in Iraq. Perhaps she is still consulting with the communist North Vietnamese friends she made there in 1972?

I doubt there are many American veterans that are even interested in being in the same location as Fonda, let alone encouraging her to run her mouth spewing hate and discontent in this country again. I talked to two veterans of the United States Armed Forces and neither of them had anything nice to say about our dear, sweet Jane.

Danny Watkins, a former serviceman from the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War said, "she's doing the same shit she did before ... she sucks." I completely concur with Watkins and his assessment of the actress-turned-dumbass with a big mouth.

When I asked my father, Wayland Bartram, a former sailor with the United States Navy, he had similar comments to those of Watkins. He said, "(the) liberal bitch is a traitor. She sucks!" Again, I agree fully with this opinion of the holier-than-thou Ms. Fonda.

Just a few short months ago, "Hanoi Jane" again apologized for her "betrayal" of the American military and "the largest lapse of judgment that (she) can even imagine." She continued, while talking to 60 Minutes correspondent Leslie Stahl, "the image of Jane Fonda, Barbarella, Henry Fonda's daughter ... sitting on an enemy aircraft gun was a betrayal."

The 67-year-old actress and activist, however, defended her decision to go to Hanoi and said she had no regrets about being photographed with American POWs there or making broadcasts on Radio Hanoi because she was trying to stop the war.

Considering her age, and the fact that she just had hip replacement surgery, I imagine this little jaunt to promote hate towards our President, military, and patriotism, will be short lived. The backlash caused by this new journey into stupidity will probably be sufficient to finally get her to shut up.

When will entertainers realize that we don't watch their movies, listen to their music, etc., so we can hear about their political ideology? I think anyone that bases their political views on the opinions of unqualified idiots deserve what they get. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm the idiot for thinking this way?

Regardless, this will probably be the last adventure of its type for the aging actress, and hopefully we won't have to hear from her anymore thereafter.
