Sunday, August 14, 2005 - The Nassau West Department of the Treasury is at it again. This morning they recommended to the National Security Council (NSC) an economic embargo on the City of Tombstone for an indefinite period of time.
Shortly thereafter, the NSC ordered a full boycott of Tombstone for no less than one month. Effective immediately, the Department of State issued a travel advisory for Tombstone warning Nassau West citizens not to travel there until matters are resolved.
The Tombstone Embassy, manned by Tombstone local Carey Granger, is closed to Nassau West citizens. While it is not illegal for Nassau West citizens to visit Tombstone, if they find themselves in need of assistance from the Nassau West Department of State, they will be out of luck. The Nassau West Sheriff's Department is not available in Tombstone either.
According to the Department of the Treasury, spending in Tombstone accounts for a large portion of the Nassau West Department of State's budget. The Department of State is appalled by the treatment received by Nassau West President Kelly K. Bartram last weekend in Tombstone, and have placed a travel restriction on the President barring him from patronizing Big Nose Kate's until further notice.
Upon learning of the travel restriction, the Department of the Treasury recommended economic sanctions against the City of Tombstone. In an emergency session this morning, the National Security Council voted to impose a full boycott until the incident involving the President has been fully resolved.
The Nassau West Sheriff's Department, in cooperation with the Presidential Security Service, has been investigating the matter for more than a week at this point. It is only because the Nassau West Sheriff's Department has no jurisdiction in Tombstone that all parties involved in last Saturday night's altercation were not arrested, which would have made obtaining statements much easier.
Last Sunday, members of the Presidential Security Service for both Nassau West and for the Xochi Republic returned to Tombstone to start their investigation. While in Tombstone, the investigators decided against going into Big Nose Kate's, where the local Tombstone man involved in last weekend's trouble works. He has not been questioned.
"Well, this kind of sucks," said President Bartram, "but between the sanctions on the Xochi Republic and Tombstone, it's going to save a lot of money that can be better spent elsewhere. I would imagine that neither embargo will last too long, but who knows? I don't go to Tombstone to be treated like that, and if they can't do better than that, I won't go back."
Last night Bartram, after visiting Nassau West Vice President Michael O'Brien and his fiancee, Cathy McWhorter at their home in Phoenix, traveled to the Xochi Republic for an overnight stay at their Capitol. While there, Bartram advised Xochi Republic President Chris Walsh of the new sanctions imposed against his country.
Walsh didn't seem to take any interest in the news, so Bartram declined to elaborate. Besides, he can always get the full story from Nassau West's leading news source, kbartram.com.
