Indictment for President Likely Soon
The Nassau West Sheriff's Department is investigating Nassau West President Kelly K. Bartram and his involvement in another all-night drunkfest held in the Spread Eagle Saloon on Wednesday night. This event, which started late Wednesday evening, also involved his sister and his nephew.
Presently, the Sheriff's Department is trying to determine who drank, what they drank, and what time they drank. In the morning, about 8 AM on Thursday, there were several empty whiskey bottles, broken glass, and a VCR and DVD player on the floor behind the bar.
The Spread Eagle Saloon, which is awaiting a new license, will have to wait for it's license while being closed until at least July 17. The bar was immediately closed Thursday morning by the Sheriff's Department for closing time violations, in addition to other reasons that were not made public.
President Bartram had to cancel his work schedule for Thursday, which is the second time in five months that this has happened. Bartram didn't eat for three days, including Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but finally managed to eat quite heartily on Saturday morning at Reb's Cafe in Benson, AZ.
After launching their investigation on Thursday morning, and interviewing persons of interest, the Sheriff's Department decided to seek charges against the President, with the full backing of the Nassau West Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (BATF). The BATF became involved as a result of shots being fired within the Capitol Thursday morning.
According to witnesses, the President was running around the Capitol hysterically yelling that he had accidentally just shot a hole through the floor with a .45 caliber revolver. A search since has not found a hole anywhere on the floor or the surrounding walls or ceiling.
A check of both available firearms, including a .357 magnum revolver, it was determined that neither gun had a full load of bullets in it. The .45 had one spent shell, while the .357 had three spent shells. The investigation into that matter continues.
As a result of being charged by Nassau West, President Bartram will not be able to rely on the Nassau West Attorney General's Office for assistance, as that would present a conflict of interest for the AG's Office. The AG's Office is expected to announce their several count indictment sometime next week.
